Somehow thought this was gonna be sci-fi thrash, but nah: it’s a boogly-woogly blend of 70s rock and 80s metal. The tone is light but the passion, chops and riffsmithery are considerable, and given how much of my time lately has been given over to Creedence, Canned Heat and Samson it certainly hits a sweet enough spot. While the style is fairly straightforward they make time to sneak some cheeky horns and perky rock n’ roll piano in among the good-time hollers and Thin Lizzy guitar tweedles, leaving us with a fun, feisty and altogether chooglier take on what Valkyrie are doing.
