The third album from Polish rockers Spaceslug sees them in a pretty sweet place, creating a woozy, hypnotic brand of stoner rock that relies as much on spacey vibes as glutinous riffage. Snakey melodies wind around lumbersome riffs, while the singer tend towards a blurry, smeared-out mumble and only occasionally shakes himself into a full-blooded roar. If you imagine a slower, more stoned Torche mingling with the stratospheric pootling of Hawkwind (Torchewind?!) then you’re in the right zone, though you can imagine that bands like Kyuss and YOB also had a large part to play in forging this band’s impressive, star-gazing sound.
