Sturdy dose of Mexican thrash metal that might not reach giddy heights but certainly suggests promise. The riffing is crisp and clipped and the solos suitably orgiastic, while frontman Iván GarcÃa offers a combination of barked commands and soaring melodies that almost puts me in mind of a Spanish-language Keith Deen. The energy the band taps into early on does occasionally flag, but more than anything it’s some judicious editing that ‘Daño Colateral’ would benefit from in order to maintain a purer sense of pace, power, vigour and excitement. This said, though, there’s plenty here to enjoy, and whether you get your thrash metal rocks off with Municipal Waste or vintage Testament you could certainly do worse than keeping your eye on Centauro.
