Originally released in 2017 by Candlelight/Spinefarm, Black Bow Records have stepped in to release the vinyl edition of Coltsblood’s second full-length. Guttural, drawn-out doom is the name of the game, but while the band are more than happy to clobber you senseless with slowmo riffs they’re also unafraid of wading out into deeper, darker waters. ‘Mortal Wound’, for example, gets its lollop on and leans hard on the band’s clear death metal influences while the lengthy ‘Ever Decreasing Circles’ forms itself around shining (albeit still utterly morose) guitar abstractions. The result is an album that morphs and shifts as it brutalises, earning both its ambitious running time and the handsome Eric C. Harrison artwork adorning the sleeve.
