Two bouts of soul-deadening sludge from a pair of UK bands who complement each other nicely. Stalwarts Moloch continue do what they’ve been doing well for quite some time now, this being to club you mercilessly about the head with atonal riff-slabs in the vein of Noothgrush or Toadliquor. Leeds lot Groak meanwhile, continue to impress with their contribution – the disarmingly-named ‘Quiet Graft’. It heaves and scrapes rather ominously, wobbly and gelatinous one moment and nothing but fangs, bristles and feedback the next. It’s an enjoyably gross way to round things off, and despite the damage I know it will do to my health I can’t help but hope they’ll have an album’s worth of filth to foist upon us before too long.
