First full-length from this doom-streaked retro rock act, who started off in London but have since relocated to Sweden (and who can blame them). While I was fairly gaga for their debut EP this one doesn’t quite hit home in the same way. It’s crisper and more accomplished for sure, with the confident riffsmithery and brilliant, soaring vocals of Totta Ekebergh intact but wedded to more ambitious – and more variegated – songwriting. What’s missing, however, is something I can’t quite pinpoint. Is it gusto? Spirit? Fire? I’m not entirely sure, but whatever it is I’m left enjoying the experience but not entirely consumed by it.
