An enjoyable bout of horror here from Woundvac, which mulches together the crusty edges and guttural belch of His Hero Is Gone with some vintage Earache Records sensibilities. The straight-ahead surge suggests grind progenitors like Napalm Death and Terrorizer, but the band aren’t afraid to slosh in some catchy death metal riffing from time to time to keep you on your toes. Getting its business out the way in just four brief tracks and an ambient intro means there’s not much to get your teeth into, but considering the sock to the jaw they provide that might actually be for the best.
