That a member of The Sword should have a synth-driven side hustle should come as no surprise, but if you were expecting something similarly bombastic then you best be turning over other stones. ‘Evening’, see, is a far more relaxed endeavour … less the surging adrenaline rush of Deadly Avenger than the kind of pulsing, low-key meditations you might expect to soundtrack a low-budget sci-fi flick from the 70s that concerns itself with sentient crystals. Things drift along in a wan, wistful manner that’s easy to engage with but as difficult to fully latch onto as skeins of yesterday’s dream – perfect, then, for those long, lazy afternoons where you’re left well alone with just the colours behind your eyelids for company.
