Some pretty tidy tech-death here from London’s Unfathomable Ruination, who manage to balance mind-boggling virtuosity with songwriting that’s as likely to get stuck in your head as cave it in. This borderline-surreal sense of catchiness is tempered by genuine ferocity, with everything delivered at a pace so fearsome, direct and urgent that it’s easy to feel hemmed in by it all. It’s seriously impressive stuff, and if you dig the likes of Obscura, Revocation and first-album Contrarian then I reckon you’re onto a bit of a winner here.
