Gotta admit, I haven’t checked in on Roadaw since ‘Nationwide’, which seems pretty crazy since that record came out over 20 years ago. Sheesh. Anyhow, it seems that between then and now very little has changed, with the band still belting out gasoline-soaked hard rock anthems that’re equal parts Fu Manchu, Motörhead and The Hellacopters. Everything is well-honed and muscular, and the band are still brimming over with energy and vitality despite all the miles they’ve put on the odometer. The opening volley of ‘Along For the Ride’, ‘Shake’ and ‘Fat Rats’ sets out the band’s stall from the get-go, all boozy, ballsy, bleary-eyed raggedness that serve as an appropriate sonic response to the decapitated, drug-ravaged biker head splashed across the album sleeve.
