Mister Lizard - II - Tape (2019)

Labels: Astral Noize
Review by: Alex Deller

Splenetic and not entirely serious stuff here that smooshes together Spazz, Blood Brothers and the mathier end of early noughties grind (think: Fuck The Facts, Employer, Employee and all that malarkey). Thunking low-end collides head-on with spiny, needling gadfly riffs and the vocals vary from hectoring snark to Heimlich-assisted vomitation. Being this abrasive and maddeningly high-energy means Mister Lizard are one of the last bands you’d want to be sat next to when you next go to the pictures, though this being said they’re certainly easy enough to rub along with while they’re safely confined to a spool of fragile cassette tape.
