Tough and uncompromising stuff from Tokyo’s Kruelty, who’ve attempted to maintain their bulldozing momentum with a quick n’ dirty lockdown release that comprises two rerecorded tracks and a Grave cover. Mixing dense, obscenely-muscled metalcore with death and doom metal means they’re not a million miles away from a band like Xibalba, albeit choosing acts like Born From Pain, Cold As Life and Asphyx as their starting points rather than Disembodied or Dismember. ‘Immortal Nightmare’ is satisfying in terms of tonal depth and gurning single-mindedness, but there’s definitely a sense that it is what it is: a stopgap release designed to keep you winded and gasping for breath before they return to deliver the final knockout blow.
