Three tracks, recorded circa ‘The Human Overdose’ LP and originally released as a companion to the band’s live-on-the-radio LP. To be honest it’s been a while since I blasted Hatred Surge and I kinda bought this on a whim, but brief as it is this diminutive sliver of plastic is a great way to reacquaint. ‘Threshold’ opens with a tremendous lunge before bursting into a bout of frantic violence, kinda like if you pulsed Morbid Angel, Terrorizer and Iron Lung together into a lumpy, gruesome soup. ‘Surge Of Hatred’ is a gristly, mid-paced mangle that conjures images of a tank rolling through endless fields of human skulls and ’20 20′ is an unkind 35-second blurt in the Despise You vein. As well as a great refresher for those already familiar with the band, the record also serves an additional purpose – despite clocking in at under five minutes it also gives newcomers a swift, bolt-to-the-brain overview of a band whose savagery was both brutally direct and deceptively multilayered.
