Undermark are a band who know where they are (Nagoya, Japan) and where they want to be (hanging out on Skylab, buying forgotten emo relics and wondering what the hell is happening with their Blood Of The Young singles subscription).

If you were impressed with their songs on Post Marked Stamps #1 then this five-tracker certainly won’t disappoint, as the band tear through some enjoyably fraught skramz that places them in Hot Cross / I, Robot / Ten Grand territory. The yelpy screams are urgent and desperate, while the music combines scything riffs and pretty arpeggios to cool, dynamic effect. They have, of course, wrapped it all up in neat-o packaging inspired by labels like Council, Arcade Kahca and Ape Must Not Kill Ape – presentationally apt, yes, but also an indicator as to just how much heart has gone into this excellent little release.
