Last year’s monstrous ‘Breathing Through The Wound’ showed us where Splitknuckle are now, while this release takes us all the way back to the beginning. Released in 2014, the band’s debut release showed remarkably strong foundations: a hefty, hulking metalcore beast who were happy to divide their time between lead-pipe-to-jaw wallop and sharp, serrated melodies. It might lack the finesse and plotting of their most recent release, but the power and sheer in-yer-face aggro attitude were already well established. The thing does its ugly business in less than 15 minutes, but that’s more than enough time to impress – check it out if the likes of Raiden, Arkangel and early Shai Hulud form the base of your gross early morning protein shake.
