After two excellent EPs JJ and the A’s are back with a belter of an LP that’s chock-full of similarly addictive stuff. Pushy riffs, jabbing synths and vocals that are equal parts husky, snarling and melodic propel the songs urgently forward, each one an adrenaline-stoking banger that prefers to get its business done within 90 seconds wherever humanly possible. The sharp, smart, snarky lyrics suggest a band doing their active best to kick lumps out of cloying modern ennui, and sound-wise they somehow manage to conjure memories of Agent Orange, The Angry Angles and The Runaways all at the same time. It’s a furiously joyful shot in the arm, and comes very highly recommended indeed.
