Labels: Public Guilt

If the story is to be believed, these guys flew to Europe for a lengthy tour a mere week after forming, with these songs laid down live onto tape using a solitary strategically placed microphone. Whilst it is, as you might expect, quite freeform, jazzy and improvisational, it is still remarkably cohesive and rocking, not unlike a less punk, vocal-less Lightning Bolt mixed in with Mainliner’s feedback-drenched shredding. In fact, the guitar work here is absolutely brain scorching, jagged chromatics and arpeggios freewheeling over the rock-solid but playful rhythmic base. The frenzied audience reactions when the songs finally cave in on themselves are aptly rapturous. This is magnificent.
