Alkaline Trio made one of the best albums of 1998 – Goddamnit was simply breathtaking. And I couldn’t resist the temptation of this new 4 tracker any longer.
This still embodies the classic Alkaline Trio sound. But this comes across as sounding a little different to the album. Maybe not quite as much punch. Not quite as instant. But I persevered and I’m glad I did. I mean this is The Trio. It had to be good – you just have to wait until it truely hits you. And when it does, oh wow! Stunning.
Those wonderful lyrics about love and life that this band is so proficient at. My favourite song is “Bleeder”, sounding most like the songs off the album. Alkaline Trio combine their own unique blend of emotion fueled punk. And Dan’s vocals are never anything short of superb.
This is certainly very awesome. If you liked their first record, then you will love this also. And I for one can’t wait for the new album – apparently out next February. And if this taster EP is anything to go by, then its going to be one heck of an album.
