Ok, so this might be a little old, but it’s just been repressed, and if you think I’m going to miss out on the chance to talk about this vinyl which is not only a lovely shade of grey, but is also square shaped, you got another thing coming. Square. Square! 7″ x 7″! You do the math! Oh, ok, 49 square inches! Yowser!

The Crimson Curse delight in playing furiously spastic punk rock with yelped vocals and lyrics about insects. Plus an awesome insert picture of the band just totally going off in some basement. It’s total San Diego, if you own any records by bands like Angel Hair or Swing Kids you probably already know this lot (if you don’t know them, that is a hint). If you don’t own any records by afforementioned, then you’re on your own. It all comes down to the fact as to whether you classify a band playing barely cohesive hardcore, with a guy going “Nya na ya ya! Mya ya ya!” over the top as listenable. For some, not others. And if you don’t like it, just use the ‘disc’ (uh?) as a placemat.

Festival of the Dead Deer, ooh, scary name. I love the photo of these guys, masters of the Romulan look. And the music they do is more of the same San Diego daftness. Unintelligble vocals hollered out over dischordant punk with some sorta crazed rock’n’roll going on. I would mention more San Diego bands, but you’re sick of me already. Look, no-one knows what this music is. No-one really likes this stuff, they just say they do. So I’m saying I lke it, but the Curse rock harder.

Extra bonus factomation: a member of Crimson Curse looks like Drew from Neighbours.
