Hot Hot Heat - s/t - 7

This Canadian band has inevitable stardom. this is their first official release [had a demo, which unfortunately i liked more] but have several releases lined up. hot hot heat are riding the wave of new wave. many bands of the late nineties have been nostalgic of the early eighties sound as well as the ever influential the vss. some bands rehash the old garbage while others take influence and improve it. hot hot heat fall in to the latter category. the have taken the keyboards from the vss and mixed the math rock of don caballero to create a both refreshing and mind altering record.

not only are they technical, but there is no electric guitar. just the bass, drums, vocals and keyboards. the vocals tend to make the listener think they are listening to an elementary school child, which seems to bother some people, i find to be the perfect choice. compliments the music, since it is not dominating but catchy and understandable. the vocals seem to have an echo effect on this recording [not present on demo] which i can not say i fancy [!]. more hypnotic but seems more pretentious.

buy this now before they achieve stardom in the keyboard community. tell your friends. this is for everyone. maybe even your grandparents. i doubt it but….this is essential.
