The Khayembii Communique - s/t - 7

Can you spell, or even pronounce this bands name? Because I sure as hell can’t! But I am capable of describing them to you. So long as you’ve heard Portrait and Saetia. Heh.

On this 7″ you have 4 songs of that most specific of styles, the harsh vocalled, off-kilter, screamy emo. Like all my favourite bands of the genre, they are capable of spinning the magic of screaming over a twinkle part right in the middle of any song and it not sounding out of place. They also make use of acoustic guitar to add nice contrast. The rest of the time, the music in the most part is battering you over the head with chaotic, scooting rhythms, fast and heavy. My favourite track is the immense “AM1200” which brings in the added contrast of some desperately sung backing vocals whilst the main singer spits out the words. When this one breaks down into the quiet musical part, it’s doubly effective. Gripping. The final song, “HOW to change addictions” is pretty much completely acoustic with screamed vocals, recalling Still Life in places.

Well, I’ve got no complaints here at all. Anyone who likes screamy emo will lap this up like a cat with a bowl of milk. Great package. You even get a piece of black card with “Thank you” written on it in silver ink. Now that’s neat.
