Picked this little piece of plastic up as a sort of random 7″ at the Hirameka Hi Fi gig in Leicester, so it’s no surprise that the band would have fitted quite snugly onto that nights bill of abrasive indie noise.

First track “To Unwind to Unwound” flips back and forth between being sort of twinkly / jangly and some chugging indiecore with cool vocals that are talked, yet somehow really bouncy. It’s all very precise and deliberate. After a while the song becomes more of a slow, building instrumental. It’s followed by an untitled instrumental, that is a little odd to say the least. Scratchy and feedbacky. Ends abrubtly, like they ran out of vinyl space. Hohum.

Another instrumental on the other side, entitled “the Loop”. Builds very slowly, and with weird effects. Rather grooving and cool. If a mite repetetive! They wind up on “Leviathan”. Back to a ‘real’ song with a rather screamy, thrashy chorus, and lots of guitars meshing together to form an intricate tune for the rest of the time. Quality.

Well, more intriguing antics from another band in a scene that I have blindly stumbled across the last couple of weeks. A scene that seems to have gotten sick of where UK indie music was headed. All power to the nations pissed off indie youth, you’ll confuse a lot of people.
