Wow! I got their 7″ years ago from Spread and I loved it. It was a really strange take on bands like the Locust but with a really industrial feel, it was a lot noisier too. This however totally sees Skarnspage going balls out and its fucking amazing.
I was surprised to how reserved it sounds compared to their old sound. Its got some almost poppy early American indie guitar licks, its just they’ve been so fucked around with and brutalised that it makes you want to freak out! It’s a lot more avant garde, with crazy bursts of free jazz (some of which has been cut up and sounds totally crazy!), arab on radar esque vocals and a real sense of acid worshiping.
There are 19 songs in twenty odd minutes, buts its in no way boring thrash. Its totally inventive weird rock like a lot of skingraft bands, and yet much better than most of the bands on skingraft. Its hard to believe that Skarnspage is just two people.
It’s got to be said too that the artwork is fucking great, I wonder if this is out on vinyl?
This is the best record I’ve ever been given to review.
