Noxagt - Turning it down since 2001! - LP (2003)

Review by: Chris Bress

When I first heard this as a cd promo ages ago just before they played I thought it was so-so, it wasn’t anywhere as good as their live on the radio 7″ or their live performance. It sounds a lot better on vinyl though. The massive sound helps (thanks to Billy Anderson) the record a lot. Each song has a real dirgy metal edge to it which sounds ace, the song structures are quite basic, they pound along like a demon straight out of Princess Mononoke and are nearly as scary. I was reminded of Warhorse, Mastodon, My Bloody Valentine, Circle, Burning Witch and even the odd bit of Eloy – try and get your head round that! This record is a grower and pretty easy going on the ears for such a heavy piece of music.
