I’ve taken a break from listening to the Taking of Pelham One Two Three soundtrack 12″ (man am I cool) to rock out a couple of reviews as there is a bunch of really bad football on TV (West Ham vs Spurs anybody? I thought not).
Anyways, here we have two obscure European bands rocking out on a splitula 7″. I have a Seven Feet Four 7″ elsewhere and I recall it as being a pretty riotous collection of screamo (spook factor: I just checked the review I wrote of it and I used that exact adjective). On here they have learned a certain amount of sass and boogie o create an enjoyable slab of rock in the manner of Rye Coalition before that band went rubbish or newbie bands in the ballpark of Transistor Transistor and such like. There are two vocalists, one is situated 250 yards away from the other. They both yell and I think both probably have dyed black hair and tight clothes. 7″4 have lots of melody that grooves it’s way into my ears, much like a rather hungersome aural wurm. The drummer hits his kit pretty hard and this is really good. Two songs.
The Flying Worker is French apparently. They certainly have a French sample. And you thought France had stopped making good emo. Wrong bud. The Flying Worker play at being very noisy, the vocals are harsh (almost inaudible) and everything is fairly distorted. They have breakdowns and twinkly guitar parts but also just fly off at the handle going nuts and emo on yo ass. Was rather put off by the keyboard bit that lasts 5 seconds. Not sure where that came from. I guess it’s like Orchid meets something more in control a la Shotmaker. I love the rawness these Frenchies have, this could have been recorded in a dog kennel. Explosive and hard hitting. This. Is. Fucking. Quality. TIFQ.
