…………..what the? Huh? is the record on? Oh it is. This has to be the most chilled out and relaxed LP I have ever heard. Two sides of drifting, subtle instrumental minimalism and it is downright gorgeous. Lovely it is, lovely! Seamonster make a structured noise but it is so dainty and delicate as to almost not be there at all. They sprinkle in electronic effects and atmosphere over the main, slumbering body of the music and it carefully edges it’s way a long, not being so rude as to wake you up or something nasty like that. The strangest part of the record though is at the end of side one, where it comes to a sudden halt but I swear I still hear the music for a split seconds after the needle comes off the wax. Yes, I know light travels faster than sound, but that fast? Spooky.
Anyways, this is also the most considerate record I have ever heard. It’s difficult to describe, there is actually a fair bit going on if you listen closely, but for the most part this is just dreamy and blissed out. I’ve not really heard anything quite like it. I always hate those reviews where people go “ooh, it’s just like [insert trendy indie band name] on crack and speed, ooh, and heroin all at once!”, but all I can come up with “this is like Godspeed but on tranquilisers and chloroform”. What else am I supposed to say? The music is lulling my typing fingers to sleep. This is tops.
