Textbook Traitors - Rats Into Robots - split - 7

Labels: Magic Bullet
Review by: Andy Malcolm

This record is kind of the opposite of the Occam’s Razor 7″ that I reviewed today. It is screamo but it doesn’t really get me enthused me at all, and I can’t really decipher a reason for owning it. Then again it is on Magic Bullet who don’t seem to put out anything that I am interested in anyway so maybe I should have just not bothered in the first place. This is a bog standard record in bog standard packaging. Textbook Traitors are obviously massive fans of Orchid, I am surprised that they are not from Germany. The guitar sound is pretty much exactly the same, and they have kind of similar vocals too in a way. Hmm, I ended up sending a text message whilst the rest of a pretty mundane song played out. Textmessage Traitors.

I think mostly I was interested to hear this because Rats into Robots are ex-To Dream of Autumn who had 1 record I liked, the one that is a split with Racebannon. I’ve now recalled that I didn’t really like any of their other stuff. Oh well. Here they play screamy and chaotic metal. Wow. It’s like a more metal Orchid. Props for the song explanations though.

Do you like variations of Orchid? Check out this 7″!!!!
