(lord knows why, but we were sent this for review!!!!!!!!!!!! for real! maybe the boys are big fans of the C – andy)
Not one but 2 cd singles of the same track! Now I’m wondering why Andy Malcolm sent me these cos they’re totally up his street! High energy emo bastardery at its finest!
1st single comes with 3 songs and a video. Introducing track ‘I get along’ (radio edit) builds up slowly with Three Mile Pilot-esque pianos and Death Cab For Cutie-ish vocals. And before you know it, they carefully torment you with really high pitched Iron Maiden guitars and the vocals get all screechy like Arab on Radar on speed. Electronic spazziness spits in and out and then it mellows down Jenny Piccolo style. I’ve not checked out the video yet but I bet it’s a bunch of naked boys playing at a halloween party.
2nd single spins around and it’s all live versions. It’s really good. You can hear them say stuff like “Put your hands up in the air!” Very intense. Would you believe if I told you the 2nd track is called ‘Red Letter Day’? Really, it is. But it’s not a Get Up Kids cover unfortunately. It sounds more like Puritan mixed with Jeromes Dream and Kwisatz Haderach. Then suddenly the mood shifts between dark and snotty like Le Shok making out with The Vss. Strange but fascinating.
What a trip.
