The Cache present a super electrifying 80’s sounding no-wave disco tune. That just totally knocks me socks off. Deep sexy vocals, thick bass guitar intros and very melodic synths in the background that dominates the track later on. Hip shakin’ stuff that will appeal to fans of The Faint, The Vogue, Radio Berlin etc etc.
Needle stops. Flip record over.
Do you think The New Mess sounds like Sleepytime Trio? I’m not sure really even though that’s one of the comparisons they were given. I’ll say OK. Yeah, perhaps a bit. They’ve got the Drive Like Jehu groove going on for sure. Reminiscent of The Vida Blue as well. Although the screaming is just right, not overly done. So personally, I’ll go for the DLJ reference. And maybe that’s just enough for the old school emo kids to eat this up. Yeah yeah come on now, you know you want it.
And on thick body-fluid-coloured vinyl too!
