Cyan - s/t - 7

Does anyone still sound like the Promise Ring circa 1996? I didn’t think so, although these songs were actually recorded in 1999. Well Cyan sounds exactly like that on one song here! Which came as a nice surprise. “Penfriend” has all the elements, the song structure would have fitted right on “30 Degrees Everywhere” – slow and twinkly, fast and poppy, slow and pretty, fast and bouncy. Dual vocalled, whiney coo-ing and ridiculous lyrics. Innocent emo-pop fun for all the family. Well, all the family who are into 1996 era Promise Ring. Dance around your backpack to this!

“You Can Break My Heart” is totally different. It’s a rock song that consists of just the title sung over and over again over repetetive, fuzzy guitars. Edgier than their other track, and decent enough in it’s own right. Sounds like a very tame track from the first Rye Coalition LP.

Two songs, one sided, cyan coloured 7″. Pretty decent all told!
