Well what can I say… Inspiring? Brilliant? just plain rocking!?
This album is all three and more, but I am not going to bore you with details about what it exactly sounds like yet because I can’t really explain! And when you can’t connect an album to something else, and you enjoy it, and it rocks your socks off, then you know you are onto something good. This Ain’t Vegas are from the UK incase you didn’t already know, Sunderland to be exact. First thing that hit me with this LP is the production, basically it sounds like they are all in your room, all around you rocking out! There is tons of natural reverb and all the instruments are clear, really suits the style. Now that leads me into what they sound like… hmm tough one, basically its jangly upbeat as fuck post punk type stuff, it rocks in a way like Burning Airlines but has that cool catchy but wierd feeling of the early Post Punk; Gang of Four and Mission of Burma… but TAV dont sound like any of these bands directly. The second side opens with a snotty garage rock kinda thing which goes into this awesome catchy post punk tune, this album just keeps getting better as it goes along!
I can’t wait to hear what TAV come up with next, I think they will either go ultra mellow and wierd or rock more! Either way I’m pleased and will be a fan for life…. dead impressive… nice one kids!
