Five Stars For Failure - s/t - 7

Labels: One Day
Review by: Andy Malcolm

This is a band I’ve been wanting to hear for a while, and finally I’ve managed to pick up this spartanly packaged 7″. And I am not let down at all.

5SFF are playing a pretty run of the mill form of screamy-emo, but I find it difficult to tire of this style when played so effectively. All the pre-requisites for the style are met and achieved with aplomb. The body shaking emo-groove, the darkly quiet parts, the serious spoken vocals, a guy who sings off-key and a guy who screams. It’s all here. Stylewise they are easily compared to bands like Spirit Assembly and Yaphet Kotto, with the additional melody of Lovesick. What that adds up to is some very cool hardcore which I am rather appreciative of.

Very decent 7″ for fans of the genre.
