Labels: Bombed Out Records

Since when where Joe Ninety this good? I used to think they were ok; perhaps one of those bands that played a solid enough tune but never exactly setting the place alight. Well, that’s all changed with this CD which, not to put too finer a point on it, is fucking excellent. Ascetically its first rate (note: using comics for your inlay artwork is always a good idea). The production is superb and the music ain’t half bad either. Its like the best parts of Travis Cut and Vanilla Pod rolled up into a big cuddly ball of goodness. Lyrically sussed as well, which is always a real bonus when you dig deeper into a record (not very interesting side note: had a slightly negative experience doing this with the new ATDI record). And while there are a couple of tracks that don’t shine quite as brightly as some of other gems, the other 8 will more than compensate (in particular kickback, 55 times nothing, all ways forward, climbing for dollars…awwh fuck, they’re all good)
So, joe ninety go from strength to strength, Bombed Out records go from strength to strength. I’m happy, everybody (who has this record) is happy. You could be happy too.
