Le Tigre - From The Desk Of Mr Lady - CD (2001)

Labels: Mr Lady

So. Our favourite all girl punk trio return. With their brand of lo fi electronic music and go-go/political styled lyrics. Fashioned with their anti anti-art artwork and such.

Opener ‘Get Off The Internet’ failed to impress however. The late 80’s – ish sampled beats are there. I’m tapping my foot, trying to hum along but it’s not working. Also, raaa-ing about the internet is a bit passé. Don’t you think?

‘They Want Us To Make A Symphony Out Of The Sound of Women Swallowing Their Own Tongues’ is probably the most redundant song of all. Would it actually qualify as a song? A mixed up sample of spoken gibberish with programmed beats. Delete.

‘Yr Critique’ follows up compensating the prior track. The familiar punk-ish garage riffs ala ‘TheTheEmpty’ from their debut lp. And while that is slightly more rocking, it’s nothing more than fairly amazing. A couple of tracks moving along insgnificantly. Rounding up with a remixed version of ‘All That Glitters’. Doesn’t sound that far off from the original. Very techno-rave-jungle in the veins of The Prodigy.

So, knowing these lasses could released a magnificent lp, this arrives at the door. And one word to sum it all up. Disappointment.
