What the! I put this cd on and for the frst 20 seconds or something I thought the Urchin had morphed
into Jellyroll Rockheads. THRASH! Then they return to normal and more what I expected. Then they thrash
again. Although I haven’t listened to this band for about 3 years or more, I spied this 4 track EP in
Crackle distro and had to pick it up after my buddy Simon reported back from Japan on it’s aceness. And
I was not disappointed. After the first track that thrashes away for under 60 seconds, the Urchin power
through 3 ultra good melodic punk efforts, featuring songs like “I Hate The Morning”. Word to the
Urchin! This song is super catchy and contains lots of energy and shouty vocals. That’s about as far as
my skills go when describing this band. I guess, take Dillinger 4 and make them come from Japan and do
things slightly differently and you have this bands sound. Each track is so tight and well crafted,
driving out of the rifftastic rock sections into calmer periods before all the guitars come flailing
back and cripes. It’s just good. Thanks! Man. “I was drinking cheap liquor till falling down” –
yes! All songs by the Urchin, no copyright. PUNK! Why isn’t this on Snuffy Smile? Ridiculous.
p.s. a guy called Big is still in this band.
