Coliseum - s/t - CD (2004)

Labels: Level Plane
Review by: Kunal Nandi

I’m not sure about the long-term life of this collection of songs, but right here, right now, Coliseum are bashing out some seriously righteous d-beat punk hardcore jams that really get me up in the morning, ready to face the world and fight the shit that brings me down. The production on this thing suits it perfectly. It’s loud as hell, with clattering drums and blown out guitars powered by just the right sort of warm distortion that still enables those sneakily melodic riffs to be heard. It’s nothing earth-shatteringly original, but it’s fast, it’s hectic, it’s toe-tapping fun and it’ll do the trick when you need a good blast of mental floss.
