Novamute follows up their techno pop Meloboy single with some pretty banging straight up techno. The soulful crooning that’s ripped apart doesn’t lighten the mood. The cinematic swirls and no bullshit beats reminded me of a squat party I hit a few weeks ago, the DJs were so much better than expected and the set up was incredible. In the same way that I thought that party may be shite, when I got sent this single I figured from the name it would be something like Ryan Adams and was hit right back by some four to the floor techno. If Laurent Garnier had been on that Throbbing Gristle remix record then this is the sort of tune he’d have produced. Two thumbs up, even if I would have liked some of the vocals to have been a bit lower in the mix on “dark and low”.
