Lords (UK) - This Ain't A Hate Thing, It's A Love Thing - CD (2006)

Herky jerky indie rock with a decent slab of noodles and meandering wandering… Sounds a bit iffy to doesn’t it?

Well, when you have the amount of groove that these three chaps then it’s possible to pull it off with style and grace. Never heavy handed or obvious the Lords take you across the landscape of music on a little journey that will make you a happy little chappy. The stop start rhythms are expertly delivered; taking the jazzed up freedom the has music and couple it with the story telling style of vocals then the album could be the sound track to any of the classic ‘beat’ novels of yesteryear. The acerbic wit combined with a sense of weary despondency in the delivery gives this album such genius slant, you really can’t help but smile.

Oh one more thing, despite deathly illness in the drum parts, this band recently managed to blow away every conception I had of them out the fucking water; in the live arena they totally fucking brought it. I urge you to get off your ass if they come to your town.
