Quebec - National Thorn - 7

Labels: Yellow Ghost Records
Review by: Andy Malcolm

It’s a long time since I heard some Australian emo. Perhaps even as far back as Spirit. That’s getting on for 8 years or so now. There does seem to be a resurgence of Aussiemo at present mind you, what with bands such as Quebec, Needletail and Eucalypt. And I believe Quebec may have impressed me the most from this emerging scene. This 7″ features four songs all nicely varied. “”Sarah Says We Didn’t Miss Much”” is a smart opener flowing nicely and having a slight Native Nod feel to the proceedings (aha Spirit!). They sneak some brass in there unexpectedly too just for variation. Environmental destruction is the theme of the screamo yelp-fest “”Hands Full of Dirt””
