Things In Herds - Nothing Is Lost - CD (2008)

Folk music to me has always been more of a soundtrack to something than a sit and listen and do nothing else and this CD is further evidence of that. These ten quiet, Nick Drake-esque songs are perfect for right now, and right now is early evening on a warm sunny night. It’s definitely one of those albums which when played whilst driving down long roads past corn fields in the sun will be the most perfect record ever but might not seem as special sat on my couch during a drizzly October evening.

There is a nice mix of slower numbers and a few tracks with a more upbeat feel (especially ‘If Nothing Means A Thing’) and it doesn’t just feel like one man and his acoustic guitar which is good, there are a variety of instruments and pretty back-up vocals on some songs which works well. I really dug the artwork too. If you like folk you’ll probably like this.
