Cmon, how do you expect an EP called “Life, Death, Sex and Whiskey” by a band called the Hard Luck Saints to sound? Yeah, that’s right, it’s rock n’ roll all the way, cribbing heavily from the Hellacopters circa “Payin’ The Dues” albeit minus the sterling songwriting chops of those Stooges-loving Swedes by a considerable margin. Still, it’s a forgivable sin “” as is the fact that the band’s singer sounds surprisingly American for a band from the Midlands “” since these four longish songs (three of the four trundling over the four-minute mark) still manage to pack a fun-times wallop that’d go down a treat on any given Friday night once you’ve chugged four or five beers and ploughed a fistful of change into the jukebox for ten minutes’ worth of Thin Lizzy numbers.
