One song from each band here, which is a great taster. Katie the Pest do a corking, lo-fi, indie pop number called “Spit it Out”. It fits very nicely alongside bands such 90s bands as Tiger Trap and Gaze. You get drifty female vocals over fuzzy distortion, giving it a very dreamy feel. I am a real sucker for this sound, and I am going to be investigating right away to see if they have any more releases. I am sure there are other bands out there doing music like this, but I have no idea where to look. Great song.
Stirling Says dish out their own badly recorded indie fuzz on the other side. Poppy, fast, a bit sloppy and with cool whiney vocals, make it sound a bit like Sheryl’s Magnetic Aura in places. I bet they are fun live, but this is just an OK track, nothing outstanding. A little too unfocused I guess.
