This band is from Derby and play indie pop with lots of instruments, a rather joyous, ramshackle feel, and a girl-singer who will either charm or irk you, depending on how you are predisposed to this sort of thing. By this sort of thing, I guess they remind me of both Los Campesinos and The All New Adventures of Us a little bit. There are a few bands about doing this sort of thing, and I am quite taken by the “Britishness’ of the sound. This point is emphasised by the b-side, which apparently recounts the bands appearance on The Antiques Roadshow, complete with a Michael Aspel sample. This one’s not for me, though, and a bit irritating, whereas “Milk is Politics’ is a quirky goodtime number that makes any cynicism melt away, and persuasively invites you to enjoy it as much as the band clearly are.
