What a little ripper! Hailing from the sheer hellhole that is, er, Brighton, Malicious Disfigurement are a very metal band, complete with various hair lengths, denim and the traditional crap band photo on the back (it should have been a collage for extra marks). Influence-wise, I’d probably best not give away my ignorance on the subject as the comparison to Death is lost on me, but I love Carcass and there’s plenty of that going on. At the end of the day, this is evil sounding stuff, played very well (great double kickdrum!), with an above average quota of hooks to keep things memorable. This is limited to 300 and is on one of the best and probably most open-minded (they’ve done a couple of full-on noise LPs for example) punk labels in the UK.
