Black Arrows Of Filth And Impurity - 1984 (Eternal) - CD (2009)

Labels: Gilead Media
Review by: Kunal Nandi

Here’s a big thanks to Gilead for plucking this one from the depths of obscurity. Recorded about four years ago, time has not withered Black Arrows’ sheer abrasive power, a cacophonous grind onslaught with tech tendencies and a harsh DIY hardcore edge that reminds these bleeding ears of Yacopsae, Brutal Truth, Agents Of Abhorrence, Discordance Axis and other good wholesome shit. This is fully full-on, never flagging from a surprisingly manic opening salvo, which is quite an achievement because it could so easily have been a directionless blur, noisy but hollow. Instead, it’s deadly in its focus, with great riffs and a relentless flow to proceedings. Lyrics deal with how humankind is basically scum (solution: kill yourself), the rich getting richer while the poor get poorer and George Dubya. Great stuff.
