Ambassador Gun - When In Hell - CD (2009)

Labels: Pangea Recordings
Review by: Alex Deller

Grind album that’s on the wrong side of “meh” from these angry lads, storming along at a fair old pace but without enough meat on their bones to do any lasting damage. Credit where it’s due, though, there’s no needless fannying about – things are about as straight-up as they can be and there’s not a jot of silly tech widdle to be heard – but the fact remains that if you’re not going to dazzle us with your chops (and, generally speaking, unless you have Dave Witte, Scott Hull or Jon Chang in the band, please don’t) then at least pen some belting tunes or be so unrelentingly savage as to have us scraping our own faces off the floor with a shovel. Ambassador Gun don’t really manage either of these splendid feats, which rather leaves “When In Hell” treading water with no hope of rescue in sight.
