I’ve never been a massive fan of Young Widows but their song on this release isn’t actually that bad at all once it gets going. It’s quite sparse at the beginning but picks up about halfway through and once the pace picks up it’s really quite a catchy piece. I’m still not a fan of the vocals though “” they just seem a tad too abrasive for this sort of thing. My Disco are on the B side and this song is a thousand times better than the YW one. Repetitive bass lines, biting guitar chords and simplistic drums are what are on the menu here and it turns out to be a really nice track. Obviously I’d still prefer them to sound like they used to, but of all their new material I think this is my favourite song so far.
All in all, not a bad split at all “” definitely worth it for the My Disco side.
