the Scratch - Whatever Happened to Friday Night? - CD (2009)

Labels: Ponyland Records
Review by: Andy Malcolm

Terrible indie bands have for a long time sent stuff for review to us. They simply never learn. The Scratch are the latest in a long line of terrible indie bands to think that the C is the right audience for their grim output. This sounds like Supergrass. Supergrass! First up, you have to get past the nasal vocals. Nope. Then the delusions of Buzzcocks and Undertones (they even name drop Teenage Kicks, just in case you hadn’t realised.) Nope. Then the random electronic noises that are in there for no other reason than to stop it sounding exactly like a million of its peers. Nope. And I haven’t even mentioned that they also seem to enjoy playing funk rock. Nope. This is beyond horrendous.

Redeeming feature of this CD? Music Magpie will give me 50p for it.
