Haunted George - The Buzzards Ate His Flesh - 7

Labels: Savage
Review by: Alex Deller

Here’s an odd little thing “” two scratchy tracks that’re like Cramps b-sides recorded onto a dustbunny-swaddled nth generation mixtape, everything fucked so’s you can barely make anything out beneath the fuzz, buzz and watery burble besides gurgling, lip-curled vocals and busted guitar lines. The title track slinks and snakes its mid-paced way through what sounds to be an ominous tale of woe while “The Tomb” is a brisker, jumpier affair with an urgent stutt-tut-tutt-ered delivery and some searing guitar abuse that pushes rudely out of the speakers to jab a grubby thumb in your eye. Think something along the lines of a mutant, jug-eared brother to those dashing young Strange Boys and you’re kinda on your way, which just about makes sense since these creepy fellas also have an EP out on In The Red.
