Wheels on Fire - s/t - 7

Labels: Trouble in Mind
Review by: Andy Malcolm

Trouble in Mind is a pretty new label, but over the course of not very long, they have certainly hit upon some great single releases. Releasing a shit hot single with two cracking tunes can be a tough ask, but they generally succeed. Wheels on Fire is one of their hits, this is two songs of really poppy gubbins, that nudges into a hole between the Ramones and Reigning Sound, and turns up the POP. “Bad Lie” is a horrendously catchy song that I am a massive fan of. It’s pretty short and barely gives me time to write some thoughts down about it. Flip the wax for “Come on Judy”, muddling a little organ into the mix and plentiful 60s influence too. I really should be able to nail a better comparison for these guys, but it’s too good for that. Good time tunes, would be interesting to see if they can sustain it over the course of an LP or whether it’d start to grate by then. Regardless, this is a good seven.
